Every business has a beginning. Mine did not begin with a fancy office, a large team or all the answers. It began with curiosity, a willingness to learn and the desire to make technology useful to people.
Starting with what I had
In November 2016, I was making a DIY banner and setting up a home Wi-Fi hotspot. What may have seemed like small activities became opportunities to help people around me with everyday technology.
I helped people install WhatsApp and Microsoft Office, download email attachments and work through other computer-related challenges. These were practical problems, but they also showed me how much people needed someone who could explain technology and make it accessible.
Learning after hours
I began studying WordPress and PHP, often learning at night and figuring things out as I went. Over time, I moved from helping people use existing tools to building websites and writing code for clients.
There was no single moment when I suddenly knew everything. It was a process of trying, making mistakes, researching, practising and doing the work again.
From websites to software
As my skills developed, so did the range of solutions I could build. My work expanded beyond websites into web applications, mobile applications and systems designed to solve specific business and community problems.
My work has involved technologies including PHP, Laravel, Flutter, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, MySQL, MongoDB and Firebase, alongside tools and services such as AWS EC2 and Figma.
Each technology serves a purpose. The important part is understanding the problem first and selecting tools that can help solve it.
The journey is still growing
Building Pamtech Designs and Systems has taught me that technical ability is only one part of running a technology business. You also have to understand clients, manage expectations, price your work, communicate clearly and make decisions about what to build next.
There is always more to learn. Some projects move forward quickly; others teach lessons that only become clear with time. Both are part of the journey.
Today, Pamtech continues to explore practical digital solutions for businesses, communities and individuals. The goal remains simple: use technology to make things work better.
Sometimes a big journey really does begin with a small idea and the decision to try.
Make the next step practical
Start with the need, keep the people using the solution at the centre, and make sure the result is something your team can maintain and grow.
